Montreal Frauds & Spams

Find Lost Child

On Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 a friend transfered me a find lost child email message from the Huet Family asking for help.

Their daughter, Cassandra Huet, had been missing for two weeks and they were asking us, anyone, to send their message to as many people as possible.

I decided to build a page on my site using the message and the missing child picture I received. I wanted to help the Huet family find their lost child.

Much to my surprise, I eventually discovered that the Cassandra Huet story is a hoax as it is clearly explained on a site called Hoax Buster. I then called the police investigation office 514 280-2121, explained this find lost child situation and was given a few recommendations.

Resources for Missing Children

The police officer I talked to recommended that we check the following three Web sites to verify if the missing people and child are listed with the police or on the Web.

Avis de Recherche.TV

Avis de recherche.tv

The first site to visit to find lost child is called Avis de recherche.TV. Founded in 2002 by its president, Vincent Geracitano, ADR a digital television chain is a service of public interest offered 24/7 throughout the province of Quebec.

Avis de recherche.TV is fully dedicated to public safety. It broadcasts images of suspects and missing persons in full collaboration with its many partners including the RCMP, the SPVM and the SQ. ADR is also live press conferences, special programs, documentaries, interviews, testimony from families of missing persons, prevention campaign launches and much more.

Although in French only, ADR will eventually be available in English as well. You may contact Avis de recherche by phone 514 383-1313 or by using their contact form. You may also dial 514 877-5085 for more information regarding their ProgramAction.

Police de Montréal - SPVM

Police de Montréal

The Service de Police de la Ville Montréal (SPVM) offers a section called Missing Persons.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of any missing people and child is urged to contact the case investigators at 514 393-1133.

The SPVM supplies information on what you should do if your child disappears and on street gangs and gang profiles. It also offers interactive Kids and Teens Games. Enter your postal code, locate your neighbourhood police station and find out about all the services they offer.

Info-Crime Montréal

By refusing to close your eyes you help counter intimidation and violence. Because of you, your communauty is protected againts crime and the security of your fellow citizens is safeguarded.

Sureté du Québec - SQ

Sureté du Québec

Missing people and child are listed online in a section called Personnes disparues au Québec.

The Sureté du Québec also advertises Info-Crime Québec. The ICQ is a call station. To contact them, please dial 1 800 711-1800.

In Montreal, Info-Crime has been around since 1987 and everywhere else in Québec since 1996. In United States, the program is known as Crime Stoppers.

Info-Crime Québec

Info-Crime

If you want to report a find lost child crime, you can always contact Info-Crime.

The ICQ is a non-profit organization directed by an administrative committee and by voluntary citizens whose objective is to prevent crime.

  • Telephone: 1 800 711-1800
  • Administration: 514 259-8437

The police officer I talked to also mentioned that if a lost child or missing people and child are not on the Avis de recherche.TV , the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal or the Sureté du Québec sites, it doesn't mean that the missing people and child are not missing. It may mean that, for some reasons, any reason that seemed important, the parents or a member of the family didn't report the disappearance or that the police didn't release the information yet.

Thank you for your Concern!
