Quartier Latin

The Quartier Latin is an essential element in the diffusion of the local and international cultures, thanks to the strong concentration of Montreal music and Montreal theatres and cinemas.

The district has indeed became a cultural crossroad, highly valued and often visited by Montrealers.

The appellation also has a lot to do with the shopkeepers established in the area formed by Sanguinet, Ontario, St-Hubert and Ste-Catherine. Clustered around l'UQAM, the small "quartier étudiant" is full of life and activities. The bars, bistros, cafés, libraries and shops of all kinds aligned on the popular St-Denis Street are the favourite meeting places of the young intellectuals studying in the area.

What's more, the Grande Bibliothèque on de Maisonneuve and St-Denis is close by and a great and comfortable place to take a short nap (!) and, of course, to read, to study, to do some research and to pick up books, comics, CD's, DVD's and a lot more.
