Young people represent 17% of the population while older people, 65 years old and over represent 16%.

Households: There are 16,955 households in the district with an average of 1.9 persons per household. Homes with one person only represent 49% of all the households.

Single-parent families represent 26% of all the families living in Étienne Desmarteau.

The dwellings of the district are distributed between 28% of owners and 72% of tenants.

Languages: French is spoken in 92% of the households, English in 2% and a foreign language in 5%.
