Montreal Districts
Sud Ouest District
The Sud Ouest district has always been associated with the manufacturing industry.
Today however, its economic activities are more diversified.
The cultural, multimedia, tourism and movie industries are the ones that now prevail. With its more than one million square meters of vacant space to develop or to redevelop, the territory offers the highest economical and residential development potential in the island of Montreal.
The district is presently in transition and is confronted with many challenges. Its industrial legacy now requires major investments, especially in terms of soil decontamination.
Futhermore, since the sector is one of the first urbanized sectors of Montreal, its infrastructures are old and require urgent and expensive repairs.
Lastly, the massive arrival of new residents created new requirements and new local urban services, some of them quite expensive. The general opinion that prevails it that, those requirements should not and must not be developed to the detriment of the population already living in the vicinity.
Thank you for visiting Sud-Ouest District. More to come soon.
