Webmaster
Position Description

A webmaster position description starts with the Net. As we all have seen, the Internet has become a dominant business and personal factor. The Net is a nice integration of both the physical and virtual worlds, and its impact on our everyday life is fascinating.

The Web is part of the Net. A Web site is typically dedicated to a particular topic or purpose. Emails are not part of the Web, and neither are newsgroups, although Web designers have developed Web sites through which users can access both emails and newsgroups.

A webmaster is a person responsible for creating and maintaining a website. A webmaster is familiar with computer technology and multimedia. He or she understands Net technology, Net resources and Net environment. Without having to be highly specialized in computer programming, the webmaster must have a solid knowledge of software languages. Fluent spoken and written English is also required.

Roles of a Webmaster

A webmaster position description refers to a person who accompanies you throughout the process of creating, managing and updating your website. A webmaster helps you improve your site by providing you with the right tools, the correct canvas and the proper services.

  • S/he assists you in finding a domain name and a Web host.
  • S/he helps you increase your traffic and monetize and optimise your site.
  • S/he contributes to the technological evolution of your site.

The visual presentation of a website, its accessibility and ease of consultation decides the first impression on visitors. Companies and individuals that offer products and services online must be attentive to certain criteria:

  • A clear and coherent identity in terms of logos, color codes and navigation menus is a must.
  • Certain colors are favourable and others are not. Natural colors are recommended and so are black and white texts.
  • The use of the most popular fonts like Times New Roman, Arial and Verdana ensures a good visibility on all screens.

Your main components are quality maintenance and regular updating and cleaning of the dead leads. Also important is lots of creativity, many artistic techniques, a listening ear and a regular supply of new content. The Web site buzz will certainly not disappear during the first decades of the 21st century.
