In the early 1990s I discovered the Internet. The first website I ever visited was the Musée du Louvre.
The site was not as beautiful and as interesting as it is now, and it took forever to download, but I was amazed.
I decided right there and then that, that’s what I wanted to do when I retire. Call it intuition, call it premonition, I don’t know, but thanks to Site Build It! here I am now.
Years went by. I worked in international trade. I helped Montreal SMEs build international marketing plans and implement them.
I also guided my customers through the financial programs offered by both our governments to help them export their products and services to foreign countries.
I realized however that, except for having travelled a bit, I didn’t know much about New York, Boston or Paris. How could I tell anyone about marketing and cultural differences without having been born, without having lived long enough in any of those cities?
On the other hand, I could help people get acquainted with Montreal and Montrealers. I was born in Montreal, I spent my childhood in Villeray my adult life in Ahuntsic and I now live in Mercier.
I decided it was time for me to travel the world from my computer. I chose to introduce Montreal to virtual and actual visitors. In international trade it’s called “l'accueil”. I finally settled on becoming a spokesperson and on telling the world about us.
