The story behind building personal best web sites goes back to the 1990s when I discovered the Internet.
The first website I ever visited was the Musée du Louvre.
It was not as beautiful and as interesting as it is now, and it took forever to download, but being able to virtually visit the Louvre was, and still is, a fascinating experience.
I decided right there and then that I was going to build a website when I retire.
Call it intuition, call it premonition, I don’t know, but thanks to Site Build It!, here I am, building sites that work and finally making money out of them.
At first I wanted to write about our cultural aspects and explain why we are what we are. I still do, but our culture is only one of the many aspects of Montreal and Montrealers. All our other aspects are, of course, equally important and equally worth describing.
It took me awhile before I became somewhat familiar with Montreal and with the way I was going to describe and explain our city. After all, the island of Montreal with its 19 boroughs, 15 cities and many administrative levels is a multitude of subjects. And this is, of course, without mentioning us Montrealers, our achievements, our lifestyles, our idiosyncrasies and the various ways our city and our lives are organized.
Sun Tsu was Chinese and, for Chinese people, war is not winning battles, war is establishing the most strategic and effective way to win with a minimum of conflicts.
Many books have been written on the subject, but my favorite is "L'Art de la guerre pour les femmes" in French, "The Art of War for Women" in English written by Ms Chin-Ning Chu, a brilliant Chinese American business consultant who, unfortunately, died of cancer in 2009.
According to Sun Tsu, “Those who define their strategy carefully achieve victory while those who fail or neglect to do so witness defeat."
JI refers to the five elements that govern success and that must be included in the process of any action. The five meanings of the JI are prepare, organize, plan, compare and analyze.
TAO is the morality and the motivation at the source of our actions. If our moral is pure, others will join and support our position. TIEN is the timing. At certain times it is necessary to take action, at others it is better to wait.
DI is the land and the resources. DI refers to the obstacles that have to be overcome on the way to success. It also refers to the distance that needs to be traveled before we reach our goal.
JIANG refers to the qualities of the leader. Sun Tsu thinks that a leader must be wise, confident, caring, courageous and strict. FA is the method or the plan. Your team must be well organized, disciplined and responsible. As a leader, you must be strong and relentless in your willingness to maintain order.
SBI! has its own “Art of War” called the "SBI! Action Guide", a 10-DAY BIG Picture which is only a simple way to divide the Content > Traffic > PREsell > Monetize process into 10 easy steps. SBI! is my personal guide to online success and could easily be yours too.
The process of building the best web sites is, in my case, accompanied by the principles, the strategies and the wisdom of Sun Tsu and by the SBI! 10-DAY BIG Picture. If you haven't yet, I recommend you purchase “The Art of War” written some 2,500 years ago and that you acquire SBI! with its web design tutorial, web page templates, web site promotion tool...
You'll love Sun Tsu and you'll love SBI!
