Business lunch or dinner, early morning breakfast, mid-afternoon coffee are excellent ways to conduct business and to spend some time in a relaxed atmosphere and comfortable settings. Lunch or dinner, a face-to-face encounter was and still is an important and effective way to build relationships.
During a business lunch, business issues are normally raised any time after the first dish and after the small talk you kept light and positive.
Business dinners on the other hand, tend to evolve into a night out and business topics are likely to be raised early during the meal.
People like to sit down to dinner at 7 pm or, at the latest, 8 pm and the encounter is often followed by a visit to a bar or a show.
Then again, business people are people who have a lot going on. They're busy and they don't really have time for business lunch or dinner, especially with people they don't know.
But, you could get lucky. You could request for a meeting first and then add “if you're open for lunch I'd love to buy you a quick meal” or you could say “can I buy you a cup of coffee or a quick drink after work” or you could ask “how about coffee” followed by “if you’re open for breakfast or lunch maybe we could grab a quick bite”.
“We have a business lunch where we know the food is good” someone told me recently, to which I add “and where the price is appropriate”. There are such things as good, reasonably priced gastronomic experiences in Montreal.
Owners of our best lunch restaurants know how to manage their costs, handle their product quality and offer great business lunch ideas.
Location is important and the business lunch restaurant of your choice must be as close as possible to your customer's office. It must also be as convenient as possible which, in most cases, means parking or transport facilities.
The geographic location and the type of community are important for you and your guests. Good lunch restaurants rely on visibility and exposure. Where there are shops there are restaurants and the Island of Montreal offers a wide range of large shopping areas, popular commercial avenues and busy pedestrian streets.
In our highly competitive and saturated restaurant industry, understanding consumer needs and wants is critical for a successful restaurant management along with a well researched and well defined concept. A concept that includes cleanliness, safe food, quality of food, perceived value of food and drink, variety of menu, quality of service, speed of service, price, friendliness of staff and close travel distance.
Imagine business lunch restaurants where you and your guests have to shout because the restaurant offers live music at noon. Certainly a pleasant or intimate diversion during any other social occasion, but definitely not during a business lunch.
You and your guest need a quiet and comfortable ambiance.
The restaurant of your choice must allow for a clear conversation and easy exchange.
You need privacy, you need to hear each other and you need to be protected from neighboring conversations and loud noises.
What's more, the lunch restaurant you choose must "improve your lunch life", must offer enough healthy lunch ideas, cold lunches or light lunch menus to meet many if not all your guest's preferences and requirements as well as yours.
And then there's service. Great customer service means making guests feel welcome and taken care of. Inconsistent service means the server is nowhere to be found. A good server is prompt, friendly and available. Go to restaurants where people love to serve and make sure they are on your best lunch restaurants list. And don't forget to ask if they accept debit or credit card lunch.
