Montreal is booming with good business dinner restaurants. Many of our establishments offer elegant decor, high-quality food and trendy dinner menus. They also offer servers who know their menu well and who can quickly address any issues unsatisfied guests may have.
Montreal features a delectable variety of specialties, locally grown or produced. Venison and bison steaks, raw milk cheeses and maple sugar liqueurs. Smoked meat, bagels and “the decadent combination of French fries, gravy and cheese curds called Poutine”.
It might be important for you and your guests to end your meal with a cheese selection and a glass of Vinho do Porto. Or, you might simply prefer an after-meal refreshment such as after dinner mints. It could, however, be a bad idea to wait until the moment arrives, only to find that nothing of the sort is offered.
Before you begin your meeting scheduling, it may be a a good idea to get advance knowledge by making specific inquiries about menu, prices, access and special arrangements.
You can check on the Web site of the dinner restaurant if the menu is advertised or, you can ask the restaurant to email or fax you a sample menu and a wine list.

Talking business during dinner can be rewarding and satisfying.

To avoid disappointments, make reservations before you start planning your business dinner in one of your favorite Montreal restaurants. You may also decide to polish your dinner party protocol so you can skillfully overcome anxiety while dining with business associates, investors, clients, prospects or members of your senior management.
Take time to read up on your guests. If you know the business and some personal backgrounds of the attendees, including personal interests and hobbies, you can use the information to help build your relationships.
You should leave a larger tip if you are a group of 6 or 8. For large groups however, the tip may be automatically incorporated into the total of the bill. If this is the case, you may leave 5% more if the business dinner restaurant is of the "fine dining" kind.
You should leave a larger tip if the orders of your group required several trips to the kitchen or, if your guests ordered complicated dinner meals to fulfill.

If you feel the server did an exceptional job with your order, don't think that verbally expressing your satisfaction replaces part of your business tip. Simply leave a larger tip if you feel your server provided an excellent service, one that exceeded your expectations.
A good rule of thumb could be to round the pre-tax amount of the bill up to the nearest $10 and to leave 20% or less whether everything went well or whether something went wrong and there was or was not a successful resolution.
Don't tip a lower amount if the food was not to your satisfaction unless you brought this to the attention of your server and it was ignored. The waiter is the messenger, not the chef.
If you are unsatisfied in any way with the service or with the server, you can leave a smaller tip.
Make sure you notify the server nicely so that s/he is made aware of the fact that the service was poor and you are not satisfied with it.
This way s/he may decide to improve it and you, in turn, won't look like a miser.
Other people in business dinner restaurants perform essential services and participate in making your visit more pleasant and more satisfactory. They are the valet parking attendant, the coat room attendant, the bartender helpers, the washroom attendant an the busboys. Attendants are usually given a tip of 1 to 2 or 3 dollars.
