The Highlands is the first urban area of the LaSalle district. The locality also sheltered one of the main industrial sectors of LaSalle.
With its tall and mature trees aligned along its small streets, this neighborhood located in the west part of LaSalle still offers interesting historic sites.
The patrimonial heritage of the vicinity is mixed with its architecture as clearly explained in an interesting document entitled Évolution du patrimoine urbain - Arrondissement Lasalle(PDF-F/58 p.). The Fleming Mill, the Burroughs Wellcome Building, the Lorimier-Bélanger House all located on LaSalle Boulevard, the present town hall, the old town hall on Strathyre and the Canadian Pacific Station can still be seen and admired.
The heart of the area with its special atmosphere is located in a square formed by Dupras, Riveriew, Strathyre, Stirling, Highlands and Aerlie. Its roots go back to the Saints-Anges of Lachine parish founded in 1676 that eventually became the site archéologique des Saints-Anges as well as a tourist attraction.
Thank you for visiting Highlands Area. More to come soon.
