No additional fees may be charged for luggage and/or for the request of a minivan.

Taxi fare calculator requests that the driver activates his meter as soon as informed of your destination.

Taxi fare, to which a rate per kilometer is added, is displayed on the taxi meter.

Taxi rates do not differ on evenings and weekends.

Tipping is customary but not mandatory.

When the lighted sign is turned off, the driver is waiting for a client or on the way to pick one up.

When the lighted sign on the top of the cab is on, the taxi is available for a client.

Receipt is available upon request. If you request an official receipt from the driver, the following information must be included:

  • the number of the taxi validation sticker,
  • the driver's permit number,
  • the date,
  • the amount of the taxi fare,
  • the driver's signature.

you can fill in a complaint to the taxi office by using their online complaint form.

The complaint must contain information on the

  • taxi activities,
  • date and time of the event,
  • place,
  • driver's license plate or sticker number (on the right rear window),
  • taxi driver's permit number,
  • summary of the event.

The complaint is then assigned to a team, who will contact the complainant for further information. The driver is also contacted for his version of the event. If the complaint is justified, the complainant will receive a statement of offense. If s/he contests the statement of offense, the complainant must then go to court.


Sectors A5, A11 and A12

Also in 2010, sector A5 offered 319 taxi cabs, sector A11, 3,856 and sector A12, 265 taxi cabs, for a total of 4,440 taxi cabs.


Montreal Taxi Office

The taxi office ensures that taxi drivers and chauffeurs comply with taxi and limousine laws and regulations.

The office is also in charge of issuing driver’s licenses and registration under an agreement with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).
