de la Gauchetiere Street

I quite enjoy an Aerobic Session given every Sundays on de la Gauchetiere Street at the Guy-Favreau Y Center by a gentleman named Pak-Kei.

Approximately 12 persons attend the session, 10 Chinese women and 2 “pure laines” me and a man about my age. I find the women quite convivial, very lively and friendly. I don't understand a word of Cantonese, but they smile at me, which is nice.

Upon arrival at the Guy-Favreau Y Center from the the Place-d'Armes metro station and the Palais des congrès.

When I'm finished at the Y, it's always a pleasant moment of relaxation to walk through Montreal Chinatown. I follow de la Gauchetière up to Berri where I turn left. I then cross René-Lévesque, Sainte-Catherine and de Maisonneuve where I either go to the Grande bibliothèque to pick-up or return books, CDs or DVDs, or I go to the Berri-UQÀM Métro Station to go home and relax a bit.

De la Gauchetière Street runs through Downtown Montreal, the Quartier International and Montreal Chinatown in the Ville-Marie borough.
