Ahuntsic-Cartierville Borough

Nouveau-Bordeaux

Église Saint-Joseph de Bordeaux

Nouveau-Bordeaux is a reminiscence of the city of Bordeaux in France where comte Daeylar, one of the founders of the Saint-Joseph de Bordeaux parish, was born.

The area is home of the provincial Prison de Bordeaux also called "Prison de Montréal" built between 1908 and 1912. It is one of the few Canadian prisons of the Pennsylvanian philosophy and architecture. The "Établissement de détention de Montréal” its official name, has been classified Immeuble de valeur patrimoniale exceptionnelle by Montreal’s Urban Heritage.

Ever since 1950, the old streets of the Vieux-Bordeaux lined with bungalows and triplex, expanded and now form the Nouvau-Bordeaux, a residential area bordered to the north by the Rivière-des-Prairies, to the north-east by Ahuntsic, to the south-east by Saint-Laurent and to the south-west by Cartierville.

The territory features large parks along its riverside, such as the Île-Perry, which offers views of the river and of nearby Laval.

Marcelin Wilson Park vastly arranged for leisure with a large concentration of installations, is located on de l'Acadie between Henri-Bourassa and Du Domaine. The park includes an arena, an outside pool, a skate park, free tennis courts, basketball and soccer fields and much more. The neighborhood is also part of the Route verte project in Quebec.
