Nouveau-Rosemont is located east of Pie IX. The sector is the most favoured of all sectors of the borough. It offers many twinned duplex and family houses gathered in hubs.
It is said that many of the houses on the territory were built with pieces of wood that had been discarded from the coaches that were being restored by the Angus Shops.
In 1895, the development of the borough took place around the actual Rosemont Boulevard corner of Saint-Michel. The area is currently known as the Vieux-Rosemont.
Its real estate development follows a model that is close to those found in certain low-populated suburbs of Montreal. The dwellings are rather recent and go back to the economic and demographic boom of the post-war period.
Then, in 1945, an expansion project took place between Bellechasse, Bélanger, St-Michel and 7th Avenue and gave rise to what is now called the New-Rosemont.
New developments in both sectors are occupied by a majority of Francophones, by Anglophones and by Ukrainians, a cultural community who started to arrive during the postwar period.
Thank you for visiting New-Rosemont. More to come soon.
