Secondhand suppliers of all kinds are never out of style simply because secondhand store finds are so much fun to find yes, to fall in love with and to buy.
To me, it's always a search for a treasure. I never know what new or old hidden beauty I'll be lucky enough to find and I love it.
Few intellectuals still favour antiques. Today's secondhand goods lovers are out looking for secondhand deals and for items that were popular from the 1950's and on.
Some pursue secondhand products for interest rather than for direct consumption. Others wear them, decorate with them, use them, read them, listen to them or offer them as presents.
Secondhand goods dealers offer bridal dresses, designer clothes, digital cameras, golf accessories, toddler clothing, books, records, bedroom furniture, war game figures, marquees for weddings AND secondhand deals.
Secondhand Merchandise is Chic
Several Montrealers are realizing they can't afford to go and spend the way they have in the past. Instead they now look for secondhand shops where they find quality goods, but without the inflated, exorbitant prices.
People from all levels of the economy are now shopping for second hand. Some can no longer afford the name brands while others are looking for designer labels they can't afford otherwise. It's a simple, ecological and economical thing to do.
Many of the products are still brand new. The only disadvantage to buying secondhand is that, whether you're shopping for clothes, furniture, house wares or accessories, the product you like is sometimes either not in the right size or not in the right colour. Secondhand shops generally have one of a kind only.
Shopping is Either a Task or a Pleasure
For me, shopping is definitely a recreational activity, especially when I explore secondhand goods dealers, a world that fascinates me.
Secondhand merchandise is a way for me to go back in time, to finally own an item I missed or couldn't afford, or that I simply lost or broke. I'm always excited when I walk in any of my favorite secondhand suppliers, It is as if I'm in a treasure hunt, I never know what I'll find, but I know it'll be a treasure.
If the secondhand merchandise that interest you is practically new and popular, it will usually sell for a little less than half of the original price. Whatever the item is, if you feel the price is fair and proportionate with the perceived value and benefits, don't think twice and have no regrets.
Shopping for second hand does not eliminate shopping for new items, but if you choose wisely from the used goods available, you will easily save AND have fun.
The idea behind Montreal Boutique Kit is to introduce our favourite boutiques, yours and mine, and to share our interests.
My interest for secondhand merchandise is the reason why I chose to introduce you to my friend Peter, Pietrangelo, the owner of Brocante St-Henri on Notre-Dame West in Saint-Henri, in the Sud-Ouest.
Thank you for visiting Secondhand Suppliers. More to come soon.
