Left unattended during many years, a good part of the Faubourg des Recollets was plastered by large parking areas and abandoned buildings.
The Quartier Éphémère however, has been quite successful in recuperating abandoned buildings for artistic purposes. Today, the Faubourg des Récollets is experiencing an intense development based on its industrial legacy.
Since 1998, all levels of government invested hundreds of millions to revitalize the area and to give it a new vocation, a Multimedia City vocation.
The Cité du Multimedia is located in the old Sault au Récollets suburb, between rue de la Commune, the Bonaventure Highway and the McGill and St-Jacques streets. A collective effort has led to the creation of an attractive environment for both companies and employees who thrive among the educated, creative, and hip clientele.
Many businesses moved to the renovated old factories or to the recent construction buildings. Artists and contractors of all kinds are invading the Multimédia City and recycling the old industrial buildings, giving them a second life. Residents also started to return to the Faubourg des Récollets to live.
Thank you for visiting Faubourg des Récollets. More to come soon.
