Montreal is presently revitalizing its Quartier des spectacles where nearly 28,000 spectators can already take place and where the Place des Arts can accommodate 6000.
A project worth 120 million dollars financed by the three levels of government is finally set to become a reality in Ville Marie.
In 2012, when the project is completed, the perimeter of the Place des Arts will have been entirely renovated.
The first phase of the project will focus on the Esplanade des festivals, a large public area located on Jeanne-Mance. Renovations on Clark will follow, where various shows will be given.
The next phase will consist of a major facelift of the Ste-Catherine Street that will become a linear public space and a pedestrian area during the summer.
The old (1910) Blumenthal Building on Ste-Catherine will become the Maison du Jazz de Montréal in 2009.
The particular façade of the building will probably be preserved intact during its renovation.
The Maisonneuve / President-Kennedy axis will undergo important modifications and will become the Promenade des festivals.
Finally, the last changes will be brought to the St-Urbain area.
Thank you for visiting Quartier-des-Spectacles. More to come soon.
